APC blackmailed me, promised to forgive if I joined party ― Mailafia
The African Democratic Congress presidential flag bearer in 2019 who
also doubles as a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria,
Dr Obadiah Mailafia, according to a Nigerian News media (not ADC News) on Tuesday, said he was told to join the All Progressives Congress
(APC) so that he could be forgiven of an offence he did not commit.
Mailafia said members of the APC had a wrong impression that he was negotiating to join the party after the elections.
“Just before the elections, there were pressures on me and I was even
interrogated by security agencies over something that happened in the
CBN about 10 years ago which was not even in my department. “They
blackmailed me that if I join APC, I would be forgiven. I told them, why
can’t they join me? I even asked them why can’t President Muhammadu
Buhari come and join my party, ADC? “What does he have that I don’t have
more than him? Is it their analogue generation that will save Nigeria?
Somebody that has never even used a computer. What have they to offer
Nigeria again?”
He reportedly stated these in an interview with journalists during a meeting of stakeholders at the national secretariat of ADC in Abuja. Also, While addressing the media during the event, the National Chairman of the ADC, Chief Ralph Nwosu, said the National Working Committee of the party had resolved to adopt “a policy of radical transparency” and ensure that members know all issues concerning the party, especially its finances. “As a result, there would be a regular interface between all state executives and their colleagues at the national level. Henceforth, apart from the monthly National Executive Council meetings, there would be a conference of party Treasurers, Financial Secretaries, and Auditors.”

We are all entitled to be annoyed.
KeyNote Address delivered by Chief Okey Ralphs Nwosu, Ikolo Dike Awka;
National Chairman African Democratic Congress ADC, at the inaugural
Conference of JESUS ARMI at Awka, on 31st August, 2019.
Protocols.
Permit me to say a few things about Barrister Okpalaukwu. Is he an enigma? You can say that again. Okpalaukwu is a great guy with multiple parts and ways. He is a powerhouse, and once he focuses on a thing, he goes after it with great determination, an endearing vigor, and with such an infectious spirit that would unnerve anyone. Whatever anyone may think of this inspiring Igboman, he is a leader who is driven with great passion to make Nigeria right for all of us. My dear brother, OkpalaEzeUkwu, Dike Ndigbo Ohaneze, Ebube Agu Ndigbo, I salute you and your team for putting this program together.
Nigerians are annoyed; Ndigbo are annoyed. South South, South West, Middle Belt, North East and North West are not at peace in their soul either. The Nigerian environment has remained so toxic for at least the last four years. Not to bore us all with distant history, I intend not to go too far. I will only cite recent evidence that justifies our state of mind. Just 2 days ago, it was reported that over 20 million young persons are out of school. Nigerians were bewildered when it was reported last week that a court judgment awarded $9.0 billion against our country for a bad contractual agreement due to the failing of the Federal government to act in appropriate manners; I am sure that if this case were fully examined, some Nigeria government officials and business elites would be complicit. Within the last two weeks, over 200 persons have been kidnapped, with a greater number losing their lives; last weekend our country's government, a country with 200 million persons, was not invited to an August meeting in France where the seven leading nations of the world were dealing with affairs of the world. It was put to our face that we have become irrelevant in world affairs. I can go on and on. Any discerning mind would wonder that all this was only in two weeks. If we went back further, it would be worse, and if we count forward, there is little hope that the leadership will make our country and lives any better.
It is doubly annoying when people in government, executives or legislators sermonize or criticize any other persons, especially the young ones be it IPOB, MOSOP, Oodua Movement, Avengers etc. People in government can trump any agitations by giving the people good governance; providing jobs, and other opportunities, and structuring Nigeria to work. If we pay no attention, any lives lost, translates to murder by persons who run our government.
The Fulanization agenda has become a major discuss in our daily lives. In that pursuit, a lot of dastardly acts are committed against the citizens. Killings and rapes have become everyday stories and these raise curious questions. When a people cannot boast of modern industries and cannot do any form of farming because AK47-carrying killer squads have taken over the land, what is left for them? This privileges no state or tribe.
The idea that President Buhari is promoting both Islamization and Fulanization agenda leaves much to be desired. I maintain that when elites of any tribe become insensitive to the need to promote diversity values, they undermine the country and all the ethnicities, but endanger their own most especially. The Igbos still suffer from the perception that the 1966 coup was staged to privilege the Easterners. The parochialism of the leadership in place has completely disoriented the North East and Northwest of Nigeria. The political and business elites from these two regions cannot go home any more. They live in Abuja and Lagos, and have their properties in Dubai. The states and the people are in ruins. Even Daura the home of President Buhari is not spared. Many persons from Katsina and Daura swear openly that a Presidency of their own has brought them more calamity. I wish our political leaders can learn.
The Buhari government has created unnecessary tension and toxicity within the environment, brought unnecessary attention and difficulty to the Fulani people and herdsmen, and created discord amongst the different religious groups in the country. When democratic power is used for parochial interests, it creates eternal division, instability, and results in crime, poverty, and insecurity, at times war. With these come a consequential lack of development, industries, and employment. The country and the people suffer when national leaders think small and take their people for granted.
Cattle rearing is a good business. As President of Nigeria I would make multimillionaires of the young men in this business, and I would get world class animal breeders and consultants to teach our people to do the business in dignity and wealth.
The youths of our country from all the regions are vexed, annoyed. Nnamdi Kanu, Sowore, and IPOB, all the regional movements are not the cause of Nigeria’s predicament, rather they are consequences of leadership failure, and continued attempt to navigate the national concourse with a faulty compass. We must restructure our systems, and construct our states as true federating entities. There is no better way. The country struggled to hold tight until the Nigerian Airways fell apart; the Nigerian National Shipping Line, Nigeria Railways, NEPA etc struggled from federal might and died. It is foolhardy for us to believe that we can run a much bigger human ecosystem efficiently from Abuja as to make sense in the world. It is time we free up, and allow our multifaceted potentials and limitless opportunities to come alive.
Nigeria is a diverse country with many ethnicities, and religions. Nigeria's leaders must be sensitive and mindful. The British may have made mistakes by bringing all the various peoples together. But 105 years after the amalgamation, we should be able to pave our path. Holding unto the faulty politics and military misadventures of the nineteen sixties to deny Nigerians of the development, security and prosperity opportunities that the present Nigeria is capable of, is to say the least thoughtless and wicked. It is really unfortunate that this country has small thinkers leading our affairs, not only at national level, but at state, local government and communal levels.
Nigeria is a very special country. I dare say there is no country like Nigeria in the whole world. It is significant in three distinct and endearing ways. First, Nigeria has the seventh largest human population in a world with almost 200 countries. Second, Nigeria has the largest population in Africa; most African countries are like a single of Nigeria’s 36 states. Nigeria has the greatest number of a whole black race of the world. In a democratic reign therefore, people who aspire for political leadership at any level must be mindful that Nigeria defines Africa and defines the black people. Leading this nation is not about ethnicity or religion, it means the world to every African and Black person.
As a people, we must arise above pettiness, bigotry, and tribe. All the other continents, the Americas, Europe, and Asia, have become giants, while our elites bicker. We are so self-conceited, and our nation is in disarray, and Africans appear to be the laggards of the world. Leaders of other nations call us names. Believe it or not, but as a race, the black people may continue to suffer some complexes for as long as all nations of Africa seek aid from the other continents to survive. The backwardness happens because we fight each other, one ethnic group against the other; when family members are in competition with each other, the family will fail. We must stop chasing shadows, hurting ourselves; we must start envisioning Nigeria future in the world.
This is why the African Democratic Congress, ADC, has taken the big picture strategy approach. As a founding member, and the National Chairman, I ensured we chose as our symbol, an inclusive and welcoming Handshake that has embedded in it the ideology, philosophy, and diversity values of the party. The party has a mega spectrum worldview. We may be struggling, but with time and it will not be long, Nigerians will come to realize that that is the kind of vision and outlook that will privilege our people. So I encourage the JESUS ARMI to look beyond the closet and embrace a global view and long term planning.
Thank you all for listening and God Bless all of us.

Billionaire Femi Otedola No More Owner of Forte Oil
Nigerian billionaire, Femi Otedola, on Wednesday, revealed that he has sold his interests in Forte Oil.
On his verified Instagram handle, Otedola said, he has moved on from being a player in the petroleum industry to focusing on his power generation business.
Sharing a photo of the different brand changes that the oil company had undergone, Otedola wrote, “A few years ago, my team and I embarked on an arduous task of transforming a moribund petroleum marketing business, African Petroleum Plc (formerly British Petroleum) into Forte Oil Plc; a leading integrated solutions provider with solid footprints in downstream petroleum marketing, Upstream Services and Power Generation and one in which we built intrinsic value to the benefits of our shareholders.
“In line with my principle of business focus, we have divested from our marketing and upstream businesses and shall from now on focus and consolidate on the gains of our power generation business, Geregu Power Plc.
“We wish our successors the very best and urge them to build on our legacies which have been established since 1964.”
Leke Abejide: I didn't Defect To Another Party
The political space has been heated up with news and rumor that Hon.
Elder Leke Abejide who won his election bid on the platform of African
Democratic Congress (ADC) has defected to another party. I want to
categorically say that the news is very far from the truth and it's also
a cheap propaganda.
Hon. Leke Abejide as at today is still a member of African Democratic Congress (ADC) and has no plan to trade the mandate given to him under his party by shuffling to join another party.
Hon. Leke Abejide as at today is still a member of African Democratic Congress (ADC) and has no plan to trade the mandate given to him under his party by shuffling to join another party.
In a statement, sent out by his media aide, saying " Hon. Leke Abejide
that I know will not sell out or consent to join another party without
consulting his people most especially his party members". He understands
the game deeper than what everyone thought. His aims to deliver
superlative and unbeatable records of achievement has not changed.
Let me set the record straight, Elder Leke Abejide is busy mapping and focusing on delivering the best to his constituents, he is not ready to give up his allegiance to move to another party for now.
The paranoid knows little of what is going on about him, they are only out there to spread malicious information, which is obviously deceptive and untrue.
Indeed he understands that politics is local, Hon Leke Abejide is a party man and he is committed to progressive ideologies.
Apparently Hon. Elder Leke remains loyal to his party and electorates who voted him. Certainly, I want to urge the people of Yagba federal constituency to remain calm and supportive, Liberation has come which is the most paramount to us all.

Northern Women in politics visits ADC Headquarters in Abuja
The Northern Women in politics on Monday 2nd September 2019 paid a courtesy visit to the ADC National Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, the Chairperson of the group Hajia Sadetu Abdullahi said that they came to speak with one voice towards the unity, development and emancipation of northern women in particular and Nigerian Women in general.
“Sir, we are here having in mind that, African Democratic Congress, is one of the fastest growing political party in Nigeria today, to among other things be educated about the party’s policy on the inclusion of women in the party’s decision making organ such as the party’s working committees and not just a woman leader position. What policy do you have that provides the opportunity for women to contest election to any offices of their choice from ward Councillorship to the office of the President of the Country? She said
In his reaction, the National Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu said that ADC is the most gender friendly political party in Nigeria. “ADC got transformed last year, and the first primary election of the party was the FCT Senatorial primary that produced a woman candidate, Amb Esther Audu as the candidate of the party” he said.
“In our amended constitution, we said that 30% of all elective and appointed positions should go to women and youths respectively while 40% percent goes to others. Even in the remaining 40% percent the women are also free to share in it,” he said. The chairman also noted that ADC women did their best and also won elections at their various constituencies but was shortchanged by the system, but promised that ADC would still have a female Senator once the election tribunals concludes all the pending cases.
The chairman reiterated that our handshake represents our philosophy, ideology and diversity values. As a nation there is more for us to harness using our diversity and numerical strength. The National Chairman enjoined the women to remain focus, and come 2023 that ADC will provide more women in government.
Also present in the meeting were Alhaji Said Baba Abdullahi, Chief Kelvin Alagoa, Chief Anayo Arinze, Amb Esther Audu, Barr Justina Abanida and many others were all present during the meeting.

Dear Friends;
It takes a warm handshake to become part of a deeply transformative political process.
Many years have been invested in the construction of the AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS, ADC, as a model of sustainable political platform. Luckily, the Party has become the fastest growing political party in Nigeria. This journey has exposed the weaknesses within the nation’s political firmament, and our nation-building efforts. We in ADC have learned from our own failings, and from the failures within the greater ecosystems of partisanship and political practice in the country. The deafening noise, the lack of patriotism, the corruption, high-handedness, injustices, divisiveness, and marginalization, have been as a result of leadership myopia, and elite hypocrisy. Effective transformational leadership with knowledge-driven protocols are the elixirs to our nation-building enterprise.
The ADC nation building, governance, and Call to Action frame-works begin with a warm handshake, and learning and living the disciplines of the ADC role-modelling leadership paradigm. The culture of the handshake is enlivening, builds bridges, expands borders and inspires creativity and the relational agility that opens our world to limitless opportunities. Leaders who are intent on inspiring action from their followers and colleagues by modelling the role they expect of others, are highly ethical, thoughtful, mindful, and are inherent part of building a new horizon. This kind of leadership climate inspires selflessness and the best public spirited results. I am sure this is the kind of political platform you would like to join.
Are you proud of your situation, the state of your community, local council, state, Nigeria, Africa, and even the world community as they are today? Most especially, what do you want to change in your immediate vicinity?
You do not have to answer. But do not be held captive by the past or present. SUNK COSTS, like spilt milk, CAN ONLY STINK until one decides to move on. We can complain about failed projects, wasted opportunities, the divisiveness, the stench of corruption, and injustices around us to no end. Please do not stand aloof, or remain passive, or take an opportunistic stance, or decide to jump into the bazaar. However you may feel, I believe you can still make a difference.
Whatever your thoughts or dreams may be, I recommend you start by extending that symbolic and genuine handshake to persons within your immediate environment. Extend this warmth within your community. It is not about money. It is about participation, about organizing, and about leadership, and it is about doing so in an authentic and inclusive manner. ADC has a lot of outreach programs designed to hone your skills.
Are you a professional: a doctor, or lawyer, a sports personality, entrepreneur, trader, or mechanic? Can you volunteer your services, skills or time to serve and empower others, to inspire, guide, mentor colleagues and younger people, to leverage your space? Have you identified causes that you are endeared to? You can impact your space by whatever skills you have. Obama was involved in community organizing, Mandela was involved in activism and liberation movement, Zik and Nkrumah were involved in independence movements. In our society today many causes abound: the environment, organizing lessons for out-of-school kids, literacy program for traders and artisans, providing help for elders, medical emergencies and outreaches, legal aids, reading reactivation, and change advocacy. Volunteerism and relational agility are critical for anyone who hopes to be successful in public service.
Whatever your background, you can do something. You are a HANDSHAKE away from activating the journey of leading your dream, and fulfilling a destiny call in serving the people, our government, country, and humanity. Feel free, join this political movement. I am sure you will become a great thinker, a revolutionary and positive change-maker, an accomplished public servant. Joining ADC might just be your epiphany.
I specially invite you to volunteer to be a significant part of this transformative political process championed by my party the African Democratic Congress, ADC, so that Nigeria will Arise and Shine. ADC is anchored on Inclusion, it will be a privilege to have you and many of your friends join us in this journey. We aim to build the most dynamic, people centered, progressive, and transformative political organization. Let’s Go to Work. You belong with us; Arise and shine!
ADC , Arise!; ADC, Arise!!; AD&C, Arise and Shine Nigeria.
Ralphs Okey Nwosu, National Chairman ADC
Our task is not to foresee the future, but to enable it.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery

We must restructure Nigeria otherwise ― ADC national chairman
NIGERIA must restructure into true federating units for if it hopes to
survive the current challenges threatening its corporate existence, the
national chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Ralphs
Nwosu said on Monday.
In an address entitled, “We are all Entitled to be Annoyed,” delivered at the inaugural conference of Jesus Armi at Awka, Anambra State, he said there was no better way to save Nigeria from the avalanche of challenges confronting it than restructuring.
According to him, Nigerian youths across the six geopolitical zones are angry and restive because of leadership failure coupled with the continued attempt to navigate the national concourse with a faulty compass.
He said it was foolhardy for anyone to believe that “we can run a much bigger human ecosystem efficiently from Abuja as to make sense in the world,” adding that it was time “we free up, and allow our multifaceted potentials and limitless opportunities to come alive.”
Urging Nigerian leaders to be sensitive and mindful that Nigeria was a diverse country with many ethnicities, and religions, Nwosu said it was unfortunate that the country had “small thinkers” leading its affairs, not only at the national level but at state, local government and communal levels.
“The British may have made mistakes by bringing all the various peoples together. But 105 years after the amalgamation, we should be able to pave our path.

NCWS rallies SDP as ADC seeks improved Kogi politics.
Ahead of
Kogi State gubernatorial election scheduled to hold on November 16,
some stakeholders have expressed interest to join force with African
Democratic Congress (ADC) to oust the ruling All Progressives Congress
(APC) and the incumbent governor, Mr. Yahaya Bello. The stakeholders,
comprising youths, elders and women leaders among others, spoke when a
coalition of credible governorship contenders across various local governments met with ADC National Chairman, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu.
They said their mission was to work out a pact with the party to
deliver the state from the stranglehold of APC, Governor Bello and other
political jobbers. However, the question they could not answer is
whether such a partnership under ADC would be strong enough to either
stop the ruling party or displace the machinery of the major opposition
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The understanding comes on the heels of a similar resolution by Kogi women and National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) to support the female gubernatorial candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ms Natasha Akpoti, who contested Kogi Central Senatorial Seat in 2019. She clinched SDP’s ticket unopposed, thereby raising concerns as to what would become of her Senatorial mandate if she also wins the governorship.

Scientist have developed a Bionic kidney.
Regular renal diseases management guidelines including different drugs, treatment options or dialysis are indeed very powerful and necessary, but there are times when we have to turn to modern technology. Dialysis patients can’t live without the treatment, but their suffering is beyond imagination.
Many of them must wait for years to get a kidney transplant and live normally, with seemingly no other solution on the horizon. However, there’s finally a light in the dark tunnel – scientists from the University of California at San Francisco, USA, have developed the world’s first bionic kidney which can replace damaged kidneys easily and effectively.
The bionic kidney is a perfect replica of our kidneys. This artificial kidney consists of numerous microchips and is moved by the heart. Like the normal kidneys, it is able to filter waste and toxins from the bloodstream.
The project was unveiled by Willian Vanderbilt Fissels and Shuvo Roy from the University of California, offering renewed hope for millions of kidney dialysis patients. Now, some of you may be wondering “But, what if the body rejects it?”, but, the scientists assure us that the chances of rejection are zero! Incredible, right?
This is because the bionic kidney is made from renal cells. The first prototype is the size of a coffee cup and can balance the levels of sodium and potassium in the body while regulating blood pressure.
The project is wonderful news for any dialysis patient. In the beginning (November 2015), the scientists received $6 million from the Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering, and it’s safe to say that the money were well spent. The scientists have high hopes for the bionic kidney, and the lead researcher, Dr. Victor Gura, says that the device will be available for sale in only 2 years.
