NEWS ‘Osinbajo’s declaration, a huge joke’, says ADC Chairman, Nwosu

By Sunny Green Itodo

ADC Nigerian News reports that the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Ralphs Nwosu, has described Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s declaration of interest to run for the office of President in 2023 as a “huge joke”.

Osinbajo had officially made known his intention to succeed his boss, President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

But Nwosu in a personally signed statement, on Monday warned Nigerians not to be deceived by the declaration of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to run for the office of President in 2023.

The ADC Chairman who acknowledged the constitutional right of Osinbajo to make the declaration. However, said it is an insult on Nigerians seeing that President Muhammdu Buhari’s administration for which he has been an integral part has failed woefully to deliver on all its promises.

He said that neither Osinbajo nor the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants have anything to new to contribute in alleviating the suffering of the masses which they have aggravated in the last seven years.

“Osinbajo is Buhari and Buhari is Osinbajo. Osinbajo cannot promise to achieve what Buhari failed to achieve in the last seven years and expect Nigerians to take him serious,” he declared.

He urged Nigerians not to again place their trust in the APC and any of its aspirants, saying the ADC is poised to offer the much needed transformational leadership through young and dynamic candidates at all levels during the 2023 general elections.

“Osinbajo and Buhari have failed the litmus test of leadership. An Osinbajo presidency will be worse than the present administration of Buhari as VP would remain the voice of Jacob with Buhari as the hand of Esau, if elected by Nigerians.

“Which policy initiated by Buhari and Osinbajo has benefitted Nigerians? Today, terrorists have dismembered key states and local governments from the country under the watch of Buhari/Osinbajo.

“Yet Osinbajo promises to restore security and grow the economy! Nigerians will be going back to Egypt should they elect Osinbajo who has cooperated with a president that has ruined the nation’s economy through knee-jerk policies.

“Nigeria has been rated the poverty capital of the world, is that what Osinbajo wants to continue? The price of fuel, electricity tariffs, transport fares and cost of food items are beyond the reach of average Nigerians. Yet Osinbajo wants to continue. God forbid,” Nwosu said.

He urged Osinbajo to complete his Vice President’s tenure and retire quietly to Ikenne in Ogun State. The ADC is ready to offer the kind of leadership that has eluded the country in the last seven years.

Power supply: ADC party chair, Nwosu, tackles Buhari, APC

Power supply: ADC party chair, Nwosu, tackles Buhari, APC

From Fred Itua, Abuja

National chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Ralphs Nwosu, on Sunday, condemned President Muhammadu Buhari’s lack of seriousness and lack of political will to ensure constant power supply in the country.

Nwosu in a statement in Abuja, said this in reaction to the over 48 hours of electricity blackout nationwide due to grid collapse.

He lamented the concomitant negative effect of the development on the nation’s economy, especially the poor masses and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs), amid a surge in fuel and diesel prices.

Nwosu insisted that that the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration has failed woefully in its electioneering promise to ensure stable power supply in the country, and therefore urged Nigerians not to hesitate to vote them out of power during the forthcoming general elections in 2023.

The party chairman called on the Minister of Power, Mr Abubakar Aliyu, to resign or be sacked, over his inability to take responsibility and efficiently pilot the sector to achieve power infrastructure renewal and private sector investment in grid and off-grid renewable energy sources.

He lamented that barely 24 hours after the National power systems crashed at about 10:40 am on Monday, the grid collapsed at 5.10 pm on Tuesday evening and again at 6.30pm on Friday.

Nwosu blamed the incessant power failure in the country on the present administration’s lack of vision, capacity and failure to formulate sustainable policies and governance model for the power sector as well as make required investment in renewable energy and strengthening of the nation’s weak power infrastructure to efficiently distribute the paltry megawatts being generated.

He noted that the national grid had remained epileptic with a mere 2,000 megawatts of electricity in the past month.

According to him, while the installed power generation capacity of the country is about 12,522 megawatts, total output is still less than 3,500MW and with about 2,000 MW only available for distribution due to weak distribution infrastructure.

He said: “This is why Nigerians need to elect a competent government with the required political will to tackle its myriad of existential challenges, including power, in 2023.

“The ADC with its is array of young and dynamic leadership presents a credible alternative to the present failed political parties and their representatives in government that continue to push the country nearer the precipice of economic liquidation and state failure on daily basis.”
