NO fewer than 16 market leaders, mainly women, were abducted along the Akure-Owo Expressway, in Ondo State, on Friday.
Ten of the victims have, however, been freed while four of the abductors have been arrested by Police, according to findings.
The Iyaloja of Isua Akoko, Akoko South East Local Government Area of the state, Chief (Mrs) Helen Edward, was said to have been among other women market leaders that were kidnapped.
The Point learnt that the victims were on their way to Akure, the Ondo State capital, for a scheduled meeting of women market leaders when the incident occurred.
Some other passengers were in the vehicle, it was gathered.
The driver of the bus, which conveyed the victims was said to have been released to notify their family members of the occurrence.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the incident, noted that 10 of the victims had been released, and assured that the remaining ones would also be rescued unhurt.
