Leadership Recruitment: ADC to sponsor 300 youths to N’Assembly

   

As part of its leadership recruitment process, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said it would sponsor 300 youths to the House of Representatives in next year’s general election. The project tagged; ‘ADC NewTrybe,’ targets youths within the ages of 25 to 40 years.

TheNewTrybe Project Lead, Balogun Khalil Olatunji, said at a press conference that the party is raising N10 billion for the project. “The ADC NewTrybe is composed of young individuals coming together to promote and usher in leaders with credibility, character and capacity into the lower legislative arm of government.

“For this election cycle, our project, 300 Spartans, is going to ensure that we shortlist, screen, select and sponsor 300 youths within the ages of 25 to 40. “Part of our objective is to showcase and promote fit, confident and capable young Nigerians for the political spotlight,” Olatunji stated. He added that the N10 billion would be deployed for their campaign and electioneering processes, adding that the ADCNEWTRYBE transcends the personality struggle of leaders and political parties.

Lagos: Doherty joins ADC, declares interest in governorship

Businessman Funsho Doherty has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and has declared his interest in running for governor of Lagos State.

Doherty made his intentions known at a declaration ceremony that was held at Freedom Park in Lagos within the week.

Speaking on his reason for joining ADC, Doherty said: ‘For change agents with a progressive agenda, ADC offers a compelling alternative platform to the two political parties that have dominated governance in Nigeria. The values espoused by the party, among which include patriotism, leadership and inclusion.’

He also said that the party offers a path to contesting for elective office that does not require the surrendering of freedom of a successful candidate to bring real change.

He stressed that Nigerians are at a seminal moment but that the party is lighting a fire of hope and requested the public to partner with him.

‘Today, we are lighting a fire of hope. Over the next few months, I ask you to partner with me in fanning the flames and ultimately that strong wind that is the collective will of the people will drive it across the state and usher us into victory and a new dawn.

‘Discharging this sacred trust, which is what public office represents, requires the dual capacities of competence and character. Public sector leaders must know the right things to do, and be committed to doing the right things always, acting consistently in the interest of the people.

This last point is where many fall short, placing self-interest or vested interest ahead of public interest which guarantees that the freedoms of the people will be diminished. The consequences of this are real, not theoretical: education standards will fall, life expectancy will be curtailed, mothers and newborns will die from illnesses that they ought not to, high rise buildings will collapse killing many send so on.

‘I am stepping forward today because all around us we see evidence of this misalignment between the actions of leadership and the interest of the people.

‘Workers must be paid decent wages for them to perform optimally, without which the moral authority to insist on integrity is undermined and without which there can be no lasting solution. Transparency in government’s dealings must also improve to reduce the potential conflicts of interest, self-dealing and corruption,’ Doherty said.

 The war in Ukraine has forced millions of people to flee war-torn areas, including some of the over 4000 Nigerians studying in that country. It was therefore a privilege to welcomed some of our brothers and sisters from Ukraine to an informative session with my organization, the African Germany Information Center, a “One Stop Information Centre” that advice on how to get certificates recognized, or how to further education or get a Vocational training in Germany, all with the view to improving chances in the labor market. We offered our solidarity and thanked our sister from the Black Community Coalition for Justice & Self-Defense for the facilitation. Studying in Germany (acadenic exchange program) under my long years of advocacy on safe migration will be part of the experiences that I will be bringing to the table as a senator representing Delta North while exploring best alternatives at home. Delta North must be an economic, academic and vocational incubator in Nigeria. 2023 is certainly our date with History.

Funso Doherty: I’ll Mobilize 2.5 Million Voters To Ensure ADC Win Lagos Governorship In 2023

 

Funso Doherty, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress has boasted that he will mobilize 2. 5million voters to ensure he wins  in 2023

Speaking during his declaration ceremony on Tuesday, in Lagos, Doherty said he would reform the public service in the state and cater to the welfare of the people.

 

The governorship aspirant noted that his administration would focus on reducing the burden of tax and regulatory harassment on small businesses in the state.

 

 

He added that there is an urgent need to invest more in transportation and security infrastructure in the state, which would be a key focus on his agenda.

“I am stepping forward today because all around us we see evidence of this misalignment between the actions of leadership and the interests of the people,” Doherty said.

“Officers of government agencies that should be instruments of service to the people often act like predators preying on the very people they exist to serve. Importantly, they should be paid decent wages, without which the moral authority to insist on integrity is undermined and without which there can be no lasting solution.

“Reforming the public service will free up resources that can be re-directed in the enlightened public interest to enable Lagos do more and be more in the following areas: reducing the burden of tax and regulatory harassment on small enterprises, improving the ease of starting and doing business, delivering innovative traffic, power and broadband solutions, investing in primary, maternal, child and mental health, rebuilding quality in education, including qualitative vocational options, safety net programs especially for children, the elderly and disabled.

By 2023, the current democratic era which started in 1999 will be one year shy of a quarter century. That is almost a whole generation. Nations have gone from third world to first world status in a generation. The 2022 approved budget for Lagos State is approximately N1.7 trillion. This is equivalent to the budget of several states combined. Just imagine if that expenditure is put to work competently, faithfully, honestly and transparently with the best public interest in mind and devoid of self-dealing. Then imagine this scenario is built on and repeated every year for 25 years. This is how states and nations are transformed.

“It is with a great sense of humility, responsibility and history, that I announce that I have joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and that by the grace of God, I intend to contest for the office of governor of my home state, Lagos.”

Doherty added that he decided to contest under the ADC as the party offers a compelling alternative platform to the two political parties that have dominated governance in Nigeria.

He said the ADC will mobilise over 2.5 million voters in the next election in order to ensure victory for the party.

DELTA ADC HOLDS PARTY CONGRESS IN ASABA

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Delta state has held its congress in Asaba, which attracted members of the party from the 25 local government areas of the state.

 

The generally peaceful party congress also had in attendance four presidential aspirants and some House of Assembly hopefuls seeking to bear the party’s flag in the 2023 general elections, including Prof. Kingsley Moghalu and Dr. Chukwuka Monye, Joyce Nasaka and Ayor Dele Favour

In his remarks, the National  Chairman of ADC, Chief Ralph Nwosu, said the congress was an avenue for the party to strategize for the forthcoming elections by looking inward for ideas and options for a better performance of the party at all levels of the next electoral process.

Chief Nwosu, who was represented by the Deputy National President, Diaspora Network, Mr. Kenneth Gbandi, noted that the party was well positioned to do battle for the presidential seat with the two leading political parties, the APC and PDP, and urged party faithful to brace up for the task, which he admitted would not be an easy one.

He commended the leadership of ADC in Delta for ensuring that the party remained united and appealed to members of the party in the state to close ranks and work together in the overall interest of the party.

In their separate remarks, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu and Dr Chukwuka Monye, both of whom are aspiring to be President of Nigeria, told party members that ADC was the only alternative to APC and PDP, insisting that the time had come for the party to take over power at the center and fix the numerous socioeconomic and security challenges facing the country.

Earlier, the State Chairman of ADC, Prince Joe Chukwu, said the party was made up of dedicated and energetic members determined to transform Nigeria and guarantee a brighter future for the citizenry, adding that ADC believed in one man, one vote and was strongly opposed to imposition of candidates for elective positions.

Prince Chukwu, who is also the Chairman, ADC Chairmen’s Forum in Nigeria, thanked all party leaders and delegates for their orderly conduct during the congress and urged them to join hands with the new executives to strengthen the party in the state.

At the congress, Prince Joe Chukwu was reelected State Chairman of the party, among other executive members of the state and local government area chapters.
