Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo Gives Acceptance Speech On Emergence As The Governorship Candidate Of ADC

It is important we understand the significant of today’s events. Today in Anambra State, a party that is founded on truth, discipline, and a great hope that Nigeria will rise as a global nation, is taking root in Anambra State.

My gratitude goes specially to my brother and a friend, Chief Okey Nwosu, Ikolo Awka. I am grateful to him for being tenacious in doing things that are right. From the time he was in APGA till today, he has been a founding member of ADC; he has sustained a character of focus and honesty. It is his deserved focus that has kept all of us here today.

I thank my wife, whose partnership with me, has kept me a man, who does not lose his vision. I thank my children, who have never for once in my entire life of fatherhood, kept me awake. They have maintained the dignity of the family wherever they work, wherever they stay. I am grateful to them. I am grateful to my grandchildren, who are growing with confidence that they will be part of a successful Nigeria.

I thank all of you here; you left your families and loved ones and other things that are important to you. I thank you for your Faithfulness.
I thank my colleagues with whom I started this journey. When I started this journey there are people who never believed my name will appear on the ballot paper. Some didn’t believe it because they felt I have no money, some didn’t believe it because they felt I have no connection, and some didn’t believe it because they believe they can steal it. Those who stole it in the first party I went to, will see they have stolen nothing.

I am very grateful to Dr. Harris Chuma, Ogene Igbo, Eze Ogbono, a brilliant man, who stood by me and advocated our vision. I am grateful to many friends, who alongside Harris have worked the road with me.

I am grateful to my town, Okija, they say Okija Enyi, Okija ana‐egbu achala, achala aneto. I am grateful to my Local Government, Ihiala, because it is this Local Government that will produce the next Governor of Anambra State!

I will make one promise today, to the people of Anambra State and the PROMISE is that by the Special Grace of God, the most important thing in Anambra State will be the relationship between the Governor and the families of Anambra State.

If you look at what is happening in Anambra State, our children are moving around as if there is nobody to protect them. No matter the level of madness being perpetuated in Nigeria, as a Governor, nobody will come to Anambra State and kill people of Anambra and go free under my watch!

The security of lives and properties in Anambra State will be sacrosanct. Anybody, whatever you call yourself, who walks into Anambra State, and damage the properties of Anambra State or kill any child of Anambra State, will have me to contend with. I will chase you by air, by land and by all means available.

Let me assure you that the type of madness you see in every election, where ‘big men with money’ trample on everybody will end with us. I assure you that we will stop that madness.

So many good things are in Anambra State. We have good airport, we have roads; lots of things have been done by this Government. We are going to build on it. We will bring back the resources of Anambra State. We will bring home the ‘big men’ in Anambra State. If I need to kneel before them, I will. if I need to plead with them, I will. Whatever it will take me to bring back the wealth of Anambra State, I will do that as the Governor.

Today, Igbo people all over Nigeria move around with fear because they have nobody to protect them. I assure you that under this party, we will build a Nigeria that will protect the pride of the Igbo people. We will respect our neighbours. We will not insult them because Igbo culture supports the brotherhood availed by neighbourliness. Ndi Igbo will say: ‘Agbata Obi Onye, bu Nwanne ya!’

We will be the Pride of the Igbo Nation. So I urge all of you to stand and make that crucial decision.

It is time to Rise and Shine! Rise and Shine! Rise and Shine, Anambra State.

Umunnem Daalu nuuuooooo!

Ex-Pres Jonathan’s envoy dumps APGA, wins ADC ticket for Anambra-guber poll

Ex-President Jonathan’s envoy dumps APGA, wins ADC ticket for Nov 6 Anambra Gov poll

By: Chuks Collins, Awka

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has Wednesday elected the special envoy to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo as its governorship candidate for the forthcoming November 6, 2021 election in Anambra state.

Nwankpo who recently dumped his former All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Party along with his teeming supporters for the ADC said he was very at home and settled down in his new party.

He pointed out that his lofty dream for Anambra’s greatness has remained evergreen, “hence I joined ADC to actualise my ambition and vision for greater Anambra. ADC is a credible platform with no political baggage, Anambra people need a breathe of fresh air.

In his acceptance speech before the tumultuous crowd of supporters/delegates, Nwankpo thanked them for the opportunity, assuring that he would run an open door policy.

He promised to step up the state security, adding that his administration would ensure that no soul in Anambra state would be lost again to the hoodlums.

“We will revitalise the Agriculture and other sectors of the economy. I assure you that in the coming days we will move to the street to return sanity. We are going to build on it,” he maintained.

The candidate noted that “ADC is a party that has been on ground for long and presents a credible platform for a man with high electability and burning passion for the good of his people,” he said.

That his decision to join ADC was in response to the pressure from his supporters that he should get a platform to contest the Nov. 6 election and allow the people of Anambra decide.

Earlier, the National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, noted that success of ADC in the November 6 poll would mark an end to holiganism of the state polity, which according to him, has etched deep into ‘our system of governance.’

The party’s Governorship Electoral Committee chairman, Chief Anayo Arinze, announced Nwankpo as winner of the primary after a total of 7051 eligible delegates of the party in attendance gave him overwhelming ‘yes’ voice votes.

Accepting his nomination, the flag bearer, Nze Akachukwu Nwankpo, thanked the delegates for the opportunity, assuring that he would run an open door policy.

He promised to step up the state security, added that his administration would ensure that no soul in Anambra state would be lost again to the hoodlums.

“We will revitalise the Agriculture and other sectors of the economy. I assure you that in the coming days we will move to the street to return sanity. We are going to build on it,” he maintained.  Also speaking, the Chairman, ADC Board of Trustees, Senator Patricia Akwashiki, urged Anambra state electorates to rally round their party candidate as his administration would give voice to all including the less privileged.

Nnamdi Kanu: No collaborator will be spared, FG vows

MAYOWA SAMUEL

THE Federal Government has vowed that all collaborators in the ongoing case against the re-arrested leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, will be made to face trial, irrespective of their status in the society.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said forensic analysis conducted on Kanu since he was re-arrested and brought back into the country, had revealed a “treasure trove of information” on the IPOB leader and his collaborators.

Mohammed disclosed this at a media briefing on Thursday.

He said Kanu, who was facing an 11-count charge of treasonable felony, terrorism and illegal possession of firearms, among others, before a Federal High Court in Abuja when he jumped bail, had been living a life of opulence while he caused the death of many people.

He said, “For over two years, our security and intelligence agencies were on the trail of the proscribed IPOB leader as he lived a five-star life across several countries, travelling on chartered private jets, living in luxury apartments and turning out in designer clothes and shoes. Of course, as we all saw, he was wearing an attire made by Fendi, a luxury Italian fashion brand, when he was arrested.

“We can tell you that the forensic investigation carried out so far has revealed a treasure trove of information on the proscribed IPOB leader and his collaborators. While the investigation continues, we assure you that none of the collaborators, irrespective of their standing in the society, will be spared.

“They will all face the full wrath of the law for their activities that challenge our nation’s sovereignty and threaten its unity. No one, no matter how highly placed, is bigger than the country.”

The minister, however, failed to give details of how the IPOB leader was arrested but disclosed that “there have been speculations on how this re-arrest was pulled off and in which country the hitherto fugitive leader of the proscribed IPOB was nabbed.”

“What we can tell you, once again, is that the re-arrest was made possible by the diligent efforts of our security and intelligence agencies, in collaboration with countries with which we have obligations,” he added.
